Dependency theory, or attachment school, is a set of international relations and development economics theories put forward by Latin American scholars in the late 1960s. It divides the world into advanced central countries and backward marginal countries. The position of the latter in the world system makes it exploited by the central countries, so it is impossible for it to develop or produce corruption and other ills.
