According to the regulations of Wang Xiaolin, any competition held by the host city of the Olympic Games during the Olympic Games must be approved by the International Olympic Committee. After China's application, the Wushu competition has been approved by the International Olympic Committee, and it can be held during the 2008 Olympic Games, named as the Beijing Olympic Wushu Competition.
