Traditional festivals and customs of Yao nationality

Traditional Yao festivals include Wang Pan Festival, Danu Festival, Guage Hall, Ganba Festival, Cow Festival and Adult Ceremony. Customs and costumes can be divided into Bai Yao monk Yi Huayao Yi Yao.

Wang Pan is a mythical figure of Yao nationality. According to legend, he led the Yao people to reclaim land, create civilization and resist foreign enemies, and established Pan Yiguo, the first country of the Yao people. In order to express their admiration and gratitude for King Pan, Yao people hold grand sacrificial activities every October 16th (1984), including offering sacrifices to King Pan, dancing, singing and dragon boat racing.

Yao costume is a major feature of Yao culture, which reflects the aesthetic taste and living habits of Yao people. Yao men and women like to have long hair, and women are good at embroidery. Skirts, cuffs and trouser legs are embroidered with exquisite patterns. Yao costumes vary from place to place, but they can be roughly divided into three categories: Baiyi Yao, Shangyi Yao and Huayi Yao.

Marriage custom of Miao nationality

The marriage of Miao young men and women is mainly independent marriage, which is determined by sociality and romance. Social activities are mostly held on the day of the show or the market. The form is that boys and girls sing together, get to know each other's situation and exchange feelings. If the two sides are congenial, the man's parents invite the matchmaker to the woman's house to make peace. Generally, the bride walks to her husband's house and doesn't pick up the bride.

But in some areas, you can take a sedan chair or ride a horse. Xuan En took the bride to her husband's house. You must enter the bridal chamber from the side door, and the "bridesmaid" will toast the bride and groom to show solidarity. The bride in southern Sichuan will enter her husband's house from the east, saying that it is to commemorate the ancestors who came from the east. In some areas of southeastern Guizhou, the husband's family will prepare a pair of cooked carp for the bride, which means that they have become the husband's family. Among some Miao people in Songtao, Tianzhu, Qinglong, eastern Sichuan and Guizhou, the bride will live in her husband's family after marriage.

In other areas, I go back to my parents' house on the wedding day or the next day, and then take it for a while during holidays, busy farming seasons or when the Yao family gets married, so I will live in my husband's house for a long time after a few years.
