What is the difference between modern brocade and traditional brocade of Jingpo nationality?

According to the method of textile processing, traditional brocade can be divided into two categories: blue brocade and colored brocade. Blue brocade is mainly black and white, which belongs to warp and weft weaving, while color brocade is mainly red, which is much more complicated than plain brocade. For example, according to the weaving method, it can be divided into two kinds: machine-made self-defined pattern brocade and hand-selected pattern brocade, which are rich in content and diverse in style; There are relatively few patterns of machine-made brocade, and the inventory of finished brocade is also very scarce, so it is more precious.

The traditional Jingpo brocade is made of hemp, cotton and wool that Jingpo women usually make together in large quantities, and then dyed with a waist machine. Products include blankets, tube handkerchiefs (satchels), tube skirts, leggings, baotou, belts, waist, scarves for protecting children, sacrificial mats, etc. The warp of decorative tube handkerchief, Baotou, tube skirt, leggings, belts and other products is black, and the weft is hand-twisted and self-dyed red wool, mostly with red background. Some corners or special parts have a black background, and there is no pattern on the black background. The red background is woven with red, green, yellow, blue and purple wool or silk into various fine, simple and mysterious patterns. Brocade patterns are mostly geometric figures, mainly based on natural birds and animals, exotic flowers and herbs, birds, insects, fish and crabs and natural phenomena that people are familiar with in production and labor. Animal-themed patterns include tiger footprints, caterpillar crawling traces, old eagle paw prints, horns, crabs, butterflies, clams, fish and cicadas, with different shapes and vivid patterns; There are poppies, peach blossoms, ferns, "Moran" flowers, pumpkin seeds, vines and so on with plants as the theme, which are varied and lifelike.

In addition, there are some abstract patterns with diverse shapes and strong national style.

Traditional tapestry is entirely handmade, and spinning, weaving, indigo dyeing and sewing are all done by hand. The material is made of native natural fiber, which is thick and durable, relatively bulky, with few styles and harmonious colors. Compared with modern tapestry, the design is more childish and quaint, grotesque and mysterious, with simple and dignified style and antique, which shines with the wisdom of Jingpo women who are good at thinking.
