What are the welding types?

Welding type:

1. covered electrode arc welding

Covered electrode arc welding is a process method to melt covered electrode and workpiece by using the stable combustion arc established between covered electrode and workpiece, so as to obtain a firm welded joint. In the welding process, the coating continuously decomposes and melts to produce gas and slag, which protects the electrode tip, arc, molten pool and its nearby areas of the coating and prevents the harmful pollution of the atmosphere to molten metal. The coated flux core also melts continuously under the action of arc heat and enters the molten pool to form the filler metal of the weld.

2. Submerged arc welding

Submerged arc welding (including submerged arc welding and electroslag surfacing, etc.). ) is a welding method with arc combustion under flux layer. Its inherent advantages such as stable welding quality, high welding productivity, no arc and less smoke make it the main welding method for manufacturing important steel structures such as pressure vessels, pipe sections and box beams.

3. Argon arc welding

Argon arc welding is a welding technology using argon as shielding gas. Also known as argon shielded welding. Argon shielding gas is introduced around arc welding to isolate the air in the welding zone and prevent the welding zone from oxidation.

Argon arc welding technology is a kind of welding technology developed on the basis of ordinary arc welding principle. The welding material is protected by argon gas, and the welding material is melted into liquid on the substrate by large current to form a molten pool, so that the welding metal and the welding material can be metallurgically combined. Because argon gas is continuously introduced during high-temperature melting welding, the welding material will not contact with oxygen in the air, which prevents the oxidation of the welding material, so stainless steel and iron metal can be welded.

4. Gas welding

Gas welding, English: oxygen fuel gas welding (OFW). A welding method that uses the flame produced by the mixed combustion of combustible gas and combustion-supporting gas as a heat source to melt the weldment and welding material and realize atomic bonding. The combustion-supporting gas is mainly oxygen, and the combustible gas is mainly acetylene and liquefied petroleum gas.

5. Laser welding

Laser welding is a welding method which uses focused laser beam as energy and bombards weldments with heat. Because of the optical characteristics of laser, such as refraction and focusing, laser welding is very suitable for welding micro parts and parts with poor accessibility. Laser welding also has the characteristics of low heat input, small welding deformation and no influence of electromagnetic field. Laser welding has not been widely used because of its high laser price and low electro-optical conversion efficiency.
