Natural Resources of Shouning County

Shouning County is rich in forest resources. As of 2009, the mountainous area of 112,000 hectares, of which 88,000 hectares of forested land area, the forest coverage rate of 74.8%; timber reserves of 1.95 million cubic meters, 5.67 million bamboo; tea plantation area of 110,000 acres, with an annual output of 6 million kilograms, the per capita production of tea ranked in the first place in the whole region, chestnuts, oil tea, moso bamboo, imperial beans, rabbit hair in the province occupy a certain position, and the annual production of fresh flower mushrooms 4 tons.

The common wild animals in the territory can be divided into two categories: vertebrates and invertebrates. There are 108 kinds of vertebrates such as leopard, roe deer, pangolin, squirrel, geese, yellow warbler, carp, long-tailed brother, etc., and 48 kinds of invertebrates such as earthworms, mussels, snails, silkworms, etc., *** counting 156 kinds of rare animals such as giant salamanders (baby fish), tigers, etc. As of 2009, Shouning County has a total of 4,000 tons of wild animals. As of 2009, Shouning County has proved 21 kinds of metallic and non-metallic minerals, among which, chlorite, quartzite, alum, dolomite reserves are abundant. The dolomite mine in Tiechang and Batou of Nanyang Township is the largest dolomite mine for magnesium refining in the province, with a reserve of 5.61 million tons; the Hutan chlorite mine in Pingxi Township, Yangmeizhou quartzite mine in Kengdi Township, and Qibaogang tungsten mine in Xiandang Township are all of high mining value.
