Design

Children are always curious about new things

One of the most important design principles when planning a children's activity venue

is to look at the world through the eyes of a child

A child's mentality, preferences, activities, and perceptions of the world

The designer must design the venue at the "height" of the child

so that the venue can be designed in a way that is truly suitable for children. The designer must stand in the children's "height" to design

so that you can design a truly suitable for children's venues

age is often the basis for children's outdoor activities group, children are often divided into their own small groups due to age differences. Children of different ages have different ways of doing things, and the content of the games is also different.

1-3 years: Adults need to be accompanied by a constant caretaker, the need for open and safe space, the design of the ground to be soft, the activities of the facilities along with physical growth activities.

3-5 years: parents can keep a distance, (need to parents rest area) children's interactivity increased, the amplitude of physical activity increased, separate activities and facilities (see-saw).

5-10 years: parents can be custodial, independence increases, physical activity has matured and more developmental new interactive activities are needed. Interaction between children and activities in which parents and children*** participate together.

Children's playground design should be safety, modeling, sense of space as the main factors in the design. Special attention needs to be paid by the sense of scale, color, paving, plants and other details.

1 sense of scale

For children's activities to control the scale of the site, try to achieve "small space, more fun", should not be too large, because a small step for adults is equal to a number of children's steps, in general, the adult stride is about 65cm, 3 seconds walking distance is estimated to be 65 x 2 x 3 seconds. Distance is estimated to be 65 × 2 × 3 = 3.9m, so the safety distance of the facility is 1.8m, the distance of the chair from the children's facilities in the care area shall not be more than 4m, shall not be less than 1.8m.

2 Roads and Paving

Divided into two kinds of roads and internal roads outside the site, the external road should be designed to be simple and direct, easy for children to quickly enter the activity area. The external roads should be designed to be short and direct to facilitate children's quick access to the activity area. The internal road should be as much as possible to add fun, easy to use children's cars, skateboards and other equipment, its width is generally between 0.8-1.5 meters. Surfaces of paths leading to and within children's areas should be smooth and non-slip, while paths leading to toddler areas should be pram-friendly. Protective surfaces such as sand, plastic and rubber mats should be used under all play equipment.

3 play facilities

All facilities should be in line with the safety first, to cultivate and exercise children's physical fitness and the spirit of adventure for the purpose. Playground equipment break handle rounded, smooth corners, stable structure, appropriate scale, and should provide a variety of game instruments for children to choose, to achieve the difficulty of the game of grading, so that children with the age and ability to grow in order to use.

4 terrain

On the basis of retaining the original terrain, combined with the function of the site and the theme to use, there should be two or more different forms of terrain, and the surface morphology should be changed accordingly, and ultimately become full of interesting games of micro-terrain.

Changing terrain allows children to find the fun of different spatial changes, and can be combined with the terrain to design some interesting games, such as climbing walls, drilling holes and so on. If there is a steep change in slope, consider using the terrain to design slides, and flat surfaces can be used for sports playing fields.

5 Boundary

is a form of enclosure that divides the function of the site, which can be constituted by roads, plants, architectural vignettes, or other natural boundaries, and is visually either closed or semi-closed, or permeable or semi-permeable. In the eyes of children, the boundary itself is a "fun thing" - something to climb, burrow and hide.

6 planting design

In the planting design to realize that plants for children have a certain ornamental and play value, children like to play with plants more than adults. Therefore, children's activities in the choice of plants in the venue has a certain degree of specificity, should be mainly trees for shade; to shrubs as a supplement, the use of non-thorn non-toxic varieties; lawn to choose trampling-resistant varieties.

How to create a

natural and full of fun open activity space for children

Let them more contact with nature!

1Introduce nature and have fun

Perhaps due to human nature, children may like to be close to nature more than any other age group. They have a natural love of playing with nature, and water, leaves, flowers, grass, sand and soil are all their toys. A site that is closely integrated with nature appeals to them on the one hand, and teaches them the basics of natural growth and cycles on the other.

Highly natural space not only contains soil, sand, flowers, grass, running water and other natural elements, including taste, sound, color, texture and other elements of expression and change, the use of natural things more likely to stimulate children's interest in play and exploration

2 to strengthen the color, to attract attention

Color is the intuitive feeling of the children when they play. Play the intuitive feeling, is the primary reason for the children's psychological changes. Color changes are mainly reflected in the field pavement, play equipment, plants.

The influence of color on children is very obvious, bright and pleasant colors will bring children a pleasant mood. And like different colors of children's personalities are different, the design of the appropriate color selection of children's personalities to shape the children's personality, the healthy development of children's personalities is beneficial. However, bright colors can lead to psychological tension, distraction and boredom. Therefore, it is best not to use the same proportion of the three primary colors.

Children's love of color varies by age, as shown above.

3 theme, create fun

For children, the venue is always the most important "fun", and this "fun" can often be achieved through the establishment of a This can often be accomplished by establishing a strong theme. Exaggerated shapes, strange facilities, and playfulness that they don't normally experience are often exciting and memorable for children.

Signage: This can be a sculpture, a piece of equipment, a wall of graffiti, or even a special form of paving that lets people know at first sight that the space belongs to children.

Recently, Andorra designed a whale-themed children's playground in Qingdao's Jindi Ziyizheng project, which uses highly abstract artistic forms to not only restore the pure nature of the children's world, but also foresee the infinite possibilities for future changes.

In the whale's interior, the designer wanted to create the feeling of a blue underwater space, with the addition of yellow climbing poles and colorful fish ornaments, enriching the sense of color in the interior space.

The dynamic flow of the whole installation becomes complete and smooth with the addition of water ripples in the guardrail area at the top and a white slide that slides down directly from the top on the flanks.

4Creating Activities to Promote Interaction

The richness of children's activities is often beyond the imagination of designers. They not only make full use of specially designed facilities, but are also good at exploring potential activity spaces. Designers need to create as many types of activities as possible, even "weird" activities, so that children can acquire more diverse social skills.

This "fun" can often be achieved by establishing a clear theme. Exaggerated shapes, strange facilities, and playfulness that they don't normally experience are often exciting and memorable for children.

1Little Harvest

Little Harvest's main design elements are "farms" such as barns, pumpkins, eggs and ducks' feet, which are combined into a fun educational game.

Jumping, crawling, sliding and socializing are learning stations for each farm element.

Using red and green, the contrast of opposite colors creates more excitement and attraction for kids.

2Diamond Spectrum

Based on children's learning process of multi-level movement design, geometric shapes are used as forms and shapes for two play devices, representing diamond forms.

The designers also paid special attention to color, with hot tones used for fast-moving activities such as steep climbs and fast slides. Cool tones are used for slow moving activities such as soft climbs, 2 connected by net tunnels.

They have designed a playground that is not only suitable for kids, but also for every member of the family (even 4-legged friends). For them, the playground is the place where families spend quality time, play, laugh and **** grow together.

3 SKY ADVENTURES

Create a process of play and learning with the Sky Adventure, starting with numbers 1-10, a rainbow bridge leading to 3 giant balloons, climbing or walking to each balloon and finally sliding back to the ground.

4 Pine Towers Park

Pine Towers Park is an attempt to try to step out of the plastic field parks in the city to make a themed + topography compliant + toned nature park, *** divided into four parts: Elf Village + Pinewood Encounter + Big Pine Towers on top of the mountain + Pine Needles and Pine Nuts on the bottom of the mountain.

5Sawmill Lake Club

Sawmill Lake Club is located in Houston, Texas, and this playground features three unique custom towers inspired by vines, and the sight of them can't help but bring back vague memories of those vines.

6CHAPPEL EAST

The mature trees surrounding this Hamilton park inspired the city to request a woodland theme for this neighborhood space. Motivated by research on local owls, the park ultimately chose owls as the inspiration for the main climbing/sliding feature. Play The space is activated by the food chain story, where the owl is staring at some hopping mice. The mice staring at the acorns are oblivious to the prowling owl.
