Process flow:
Making bamboo sticks:
Soak the bamboo stick in water to make it soft, and then break it to a suitable thickness with a knife. Because the back of the bamboo stick will be stuck on the horse drawing paper, if the bamboo stick is too thick, the paper will be torn.
Tie the skeleton:
Choose straight three-year-old cinnamon, cut the bamboo into long bamboo tendons of four to five millimeters square, cut them into appropriate thickness with a knife, and then saw them into the required length with a small saw to start binding. Sometimes the curved part must be smoked with candles or alcohol lamps. After the bamboo tendons are heated, hold both ends of the bamboo, bend your hands slightly, and then let them go after cooling, otherwise the bamboo tendons will spring back on their own.
Binding bamboo frame should start from the middle of the trunk. Three-dimensional geometric kites can sometimes be made into many unit shapes and then glued together. Before binding the frame, it is best to mark all the bamboo tendons with a ruler. After the erection is completed, check whether each place is symmetrical, and tie it tightly with iron wire if necessary to prevent bone deformation.
Paste paper:
Draw the outline of the paper with a pencil according to the shape of the skeleton, reserve an edge of about one centimeter on each side, and then cut it according to this edge. When pasting paper, the edges of the paper should be pasted, and the bamboo frame should be slightly pasted, and then bonded to each other. Some soft-faced kites, such as butterflies and dragonflies, have no bamboo strips on the edge of their wings. After the edge of the paper is attached, it can be folded.
If you stick a thin thread, the edge of the paper will be stronger and not easy to tear. To make medium and large kites, it is sometimes necessary to cut several pieces of paper and stick them on the bamboo frame one by one. If a piece is bigger, you can cut a piece of paper with a width of two centimeters and stick it on the bamboo strips or stay wires on the back, so that the paper will not be blown up by the wind when stressed.
Fasten the rope:
Choose a suitable stress point to tie the lifting wire, and tie one or more lifting wires according to the bone structure. The silk thread of kite can be cowhide thread, cotton thread and off-duty thread.
