Part 1: Library Research Report

In order to better understand the utilization of our school library, but also in order to do our part in the development of the school library to improve, our group did this comprehensive questionnaire survey, library utilization survey report. This activity from May 28 to May 31, for a week. The target of this survey is the students and teachers at school. The sample capacity is 100 copies.

We use a combination of random sampling and copywriting strategy, for the random sampling method we carefully utilize the questionnaire, and face to face questionnaires issued to students, thus ensuring a 100% sample recovery rate. In the investigation of the location of our wide range, from libraries to study rooms, so as to obtain detailed and representative information.

From the results of this questionnaire, male students accounted for 56%, female students accounted for 44%, basically the same. The proportion of freshmen students accounted for 27%, sophomores accounted for 28%, juniors accounted for 43%, and juniors and teachers accounted for 2%. The percentage of juniors was slightly higher than the percentage of freshmen and sophomores, and the percentage of seniors and teachers was lower. This stratification of different proportions makes the survey results representative.

I. Problems

After the investigators analyzed the results of the survey, we found the following aspects of the problem.

1, students borrow books blindly

When asked when you want to borrow a book do not know the specific location of how to do, the choice of their own feelings to find the students as high as 40%, while the choice to ask the librarian, ask students and other more correct way each distribution. This reflects that the purpose of borrowing books is not clear, the concept of borrowing time efficiency is not clear, in addition, this is also reflected from the side of the school library sorting is not very clear, or some of the clutter, resulting in part of the students to borrow a do not know the specific location of the book do not know how to do the phenomenon,

2, Student borrowing by the interest of the big preference

When asked how to utilize the number you borrowed, choose to read only the part of interest accounted for 62%, and 37% of the serious reading. Generally students borrow books are interested in books from the library back, but choose to casually flip through also accounted for 1%. Interest is a good teacher, only with interest you will be motivated to learn and study. But a book is a chain of the whole, its value in the careful reading, only selected parts of interest to see a little less than the main seek the second, even if you look at the essence of the part, if there is no coherent, then the value of the book you have lost half. As students, we should pay more attention to the actual knowledge and comprehensively improve the quality of culture.

3. The quantity and quality of books need to be improved

When asked whether the books can meet the demand, the choice is generally as high as 69%, and can and cannot account for 19% and 11%, respectively, so the demand for books and satisfaction needs to be further improved and enhanced. When further asked about the reasons for not being able to meet the demand, 28% and 30% respectively chose the reasons for having fewer types and fewer quantities of books. Those who chose too old books accounted for 40%. All these show that the library in the purchase of books should be considered in all aspects, in terms of quantity to expand the stock of books, the quality is carefully considered.

Second, good status

From the results of the questionnaire, the library is still functioning in a better position, and the utilization is better, mainly in the following aspects:

1. Most of the students go to the library every month

In the case of being asked how many times they go to the library each month, 4% of them choose to go to the library each month, while 4% choose to go to the library each month. When asked about the number of times they go to the library, as many as 35% chose 4-6 times, 49% chose 1-3 times, and 25% chose more than 9 times. This reflects that students are willing to go to the library and most of them go there most times a month.

2, the variety of books and magazines

When asked what types of books should be purchased more often, literature and art, foreign languages, social sciences, natural sciences accounted for 32%, 20%, 31%, 17%. This shows that students need a wide variety of books, all of which account for a high percentage. The library has also expanded some of the book types, while also taking into account the centralized, integrated combination.

3. The quality of library services is good

When asked to rate the quality of books, 96% rated it good. In the rating of the lending room, the majority of people also higher scores. This is a good indication that the quality of service to the library is rated better by the majority of students, but there is room for further improvement, as the absolute amount of poor ratings is still quite high.

Three conclusions and recommendations

The above is an objective evaluation of the survey response and a specific analysis of the library's strengths and weaknesses gesture. We should treat the problem objectively, in order to further improve the utilization of the library, the following suggestions:

The library should establish a more directional book classification measures as soon as possible, so that teachers and students can easily find the books they need. Nowadays, every university has its own library, which provides a lot of learning resources and extracurricular reading materials for college students, but the effect of using them is not ideal. In response to this situation, after discussion and exchange of views among the members of the group, it was decided to launch a questionnaire survey around the Shaw Library of the university, through the survey on the use of the library, to understand the students' views on the library and their passion for reading. So I conducted a survey on this about the situation of college students going to the library in our school. The university library, as one of the . As one of the three pillars of the university, it should cooperate with the university to take up the functions of cultivating students' healthy personality, stimulating students' innovative thinking, and providing students with comprehensive and diversified education. The purpose of this survey is to understand the situation of contemporary college students going to the library to read books, and the utilization rate of students going to the library. There is also an analysis of the problems that exist in the utilization of library resources, the development of a relatively positive policy to improve the utilization of literature resources, improve the construction and improvement of library literature resources in our school, and promote the improvement of college students to go to the library enthusiasm!

In the library we can read newspapers and magazines, to understand the latest international and domestic developments; we can talk to celebrities, so that their thinking is more thoughtful and rigorous; we can travel around the world, to understand the local customs. However, those who seldom go to the library, and for what reason do not go? Is it that they are not willing to study, or the library itself has some problems that can not meet the students' reading needs?

The survey included freshmen and sophomores and juniors of various departments of students, **** 148 people participated and completed the questionnaire, the effective response rate of 90%. And participate in the survey of friends with a high degree of randomness, to ensure that the college students to the library research has a certain general significance.

In the 101 college students surveyed, covering from freshman to junior samples, gender composition is basically equal, of which women accounted for 38%, the proportion of men is 62%. Survey Questions:

Most students believe that the library is open enough time, open time is convenient; 68% of the students are to read their favorite prose history books and novels, etc., 17% of the students are in order to make a report on the need to look up information, 10% of the students are in order to learn the professional knowledge, as well as 5% of the students is because of the library is quiet, and go to study to do homework.

(3) What do you do when you go to the library?

From the analysis of the data, it can be seen that students who often go to the library accounted for the vast majority. It can be seen that the current college students are still willing to spend time in the library. Then, they go to the library can be seen, the library is more attractive to students or books.

(4) What is the reason why you don't go to the library for a long time?

82% of the 10% of the survey students who do not go to the library for a long time because 82% of the students do not go to the Internet because of playing games, 11% of the students do not go to the library because they do not have time and self-study. The rest of the students think that the library does not have their favorite books.

(5) How long do you stay in the library?

Most students stay in the library for more than 3 hours at a time, a small number of students can only stay in the library for about 1 hour because of time problems, and very few students can only stay for a little while and then leave, so it can be seen that there is still a great value for students who really want to make good use of the library.

Due to the limitations of the length of the questionnaire, it is not possible to take a deep investigation of the library's problems, so we can only be investigated from our several levels of incomplete to find out the problem, the survey concluded that the library currently exists in the following areas:

First, with the growth of the enrollment time, the distance between the students and the library is also getting bigger and bigger.

The students who go to the libraries show a decreasing trend from freshmen to seniors, and the higher the grade, the fewer students go to the library. We found that the vast majority of freshmen do not go to the library as often as they should, in contrast to sophomores and above who regularly use the various resources in the library. We analyze this phenomenon because freshmen have just entered the university and have not yet fully adapted to university life, and have just finished three years of high school career. In order to release the pressure of three years of high school, most students are in a state of relaxation, not much momentum for learning, and thus rarely go to the library, even if they go, only a small number of people in the study, read books related to their own majors, while the other go to read all kinds of novels, magazines, and what's more, a lot of students to go to the electronic reading room is specifically for chatting, watching movies, playing games, and so on. And sophomore and above students are mostly to the reading hall to read and study.

The popularization of e-books.

College students psychological self-control ability is poor, play will be lost, the academic performance is significantly reduced, learning enthusiasm is low, not pay attention in class, homework is not completed in a timely manner, the academic performance is deteriorating. In order to achieve the purpose of playing games, spared no effort to think of ways to deal with parents and teachers, in order to have enough time to play games, deceiving parents: ;Wasted a lot of valuable time, in the long run, will inevitably curb the healthy development of students themselves.

In order to improve the students' reading enthusiasm and improve the utilization rate of the library, our school should improve the library:

1, set up a new book tips column.

Our school library should be set up specifically for new books, so that students know the new books in place in time, we recommend that other institutions also set up a new book tips column, the new books to the simple tips.

2. Set up a small cabinet for returning books.

Baoding College has set up a small cabinet dedicated to returning books, which is similar to the shape of a mailbox, so that students can return books directly into it without taking up the staff's working hours.
