Which hutong in Beijing has the most artistic atmosphere? Please recommend a day trip itinerary?
Beijing's hutongs are a reassuring and cozy place. In these Beijing-flavored hutongs, there is a literary niche route that can bring a very pleasant experience.
If there is a most literary hutong, it is Wudaoying Hutong.
Wudaoying Hutong is one of my personal favorites because it retains a unique historical look and a strong cultural atmosphere in the busy city of Beijing. Every time I walk into this hutong, I can feel a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
The old houses, the winding alleys and the traditional red bricks and gray tile walls in the hutongs make me feel like I am in the past. Strolling through the Wudaoying Hutong, I could see many well-preserved traditional Beijing buildings with characteristic courtyards and exquisite doors and windows. These houses reveal a strong historical flavor and make me imagine the past time.
The food stalls everywhere in the hutongs are even more mouth-watering. I love to try all kinds of traditional old Beijing snacks, such as fried cluck, bean juice, pot helmet and so on. These snacks emit a tantalizing aroma and allow me to fully experience the culinary culture of Beijing. A bowl of cool tofu brain or a mouthful of refreshing green bean soup is definitely a treat in the hot summer days.
Also, Wudaoying Hutong is home to a number of art studios and galleries, where I loved exploring the variety of fine handicrafts. From wood carvings to ceramics, everything showcases the ingenuity and skill of the artisans. I don't have the patience to create something myself, but I do enjoy admiring other people's work and bringing back some of the beautiful handicrafts as souvenirs.
Overall, Wudaoying Hutong is a haven for me to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Here I can slow down, feel the charm of traditional culture, savor delicious snacks, and appreciate works of art. No matter when I come to Wudaoying Hutong, I can always find a sense of peace and fulfillment. It is one of my favorite places in Beijing and a unique attraction that I recommend to my friends.
If you take a day trip to the hutong, Tiger recommends a route!
This route spans Wudaoying Hutong, Arrow Factory Hutong, Guozijian, Beiguoguxiang, Gulou East Street, Yanpai Xiejie, and Shichahai, and the whole trip takes about 4-5 hours of side trips and breaks.
Wudaoying Hutong is one of the hutongs with the strongest literary atmosphere in Beijing in my heart. There are a variety of small stores along the street, including independent designer stores, ceramics stores, Vintage stores, coffee shops, and jewelry stores, all of which give off a charming artistic vibe.
From Wudaoying Hutong, I set out on a journey to Arrow Factory Hutong in search of Yuan Gu, a prestigious new Chinese dessert store. On the way, I couldn't help but fall in love with this quaint and beautiful landscape. The National Palace and Confucius Temple Museum, Guan Xia, and the land to lord ice cream store were all on my list of things to explore. The sweetness of the red bean double skin milk lingered in my mouth, while the fragrance of the Sanyuan Plum Garden mesmerized me.
Beigongluoguxiang and Nanluoguxiang are just one street apart, but they have very different atmospheres. Beiguoguxiang gives you a feeling of purity, tranquility and relaxation. There are many small literary stores, cafes, Japanese style izakaya (pubs) and bookstores. In summer, the sight of a sea of roses opening up mesmerizes me even more.
Gulou East Street is lined with old stores, specialty snacks, piano stores, vintage stores, cafes, pottery studios and record stores. It retains the flavor of old Beijing, but incorporates elements of fashion and literature. Whereas Smoking Bag Xiejie is more commercialized, I recommend making sure to visit the Da Qing Post Office to experience that nostalgia.
Finally, come to Shichahai, which brings together the evening sunset of the Yinzhuang Bridge, the red walls and green tiles of the Drum Tower, the ruins of the Gongwang Mansion, the Xifu Begonia at the former residence of Soong Ching Ling, as well as the serenity of the Guanghua Temple. Here, I not only savored the cultural and historical heritage, but also enjoyed the beautiful scenery and leisurely relaxing time. Shichahai is a collection of old Beijing charm, which mesmerized me y, as if I had traveled back to that ancient and unique era.
