National Policy Interpretation of Traditional Skills

The so-called traditional festival heritage refers to the traditional festival activities created by human beings in history and passed down to this day in a living form, which have important historical, artistic, cultural and scientific values.

The author believes that ordinary time is not unable to inherit civilization, but the total amount of traditional culture it carries is relatively limited compared with traditional festivals. Modern festivals also lack sufficient cultural connotation due to the lack of specific holiday diets, costumes and ceremonies. Therefore, from the perspective of protecting human cultural heritage, the simplest way to protect the cultural essence of a nation is to protect its traditional festival heritage. This is determined by the special role played by traditional festivals in the process of inheriting a nation's spiritual civilization and material civilization.

1. Traditional festivals are an important platform for inheriting a nation's excellent food civilization. Festivals originate from ceremonies, and there should be food to worship the gods. Those festive meals originated from offering sacrifices to gods and ancestors laid a solid foundation for the development of China's food culture. If there were no traditional festivals, the Chinese nation's food culture would not be passed down so smoothly.

2. Traditional festivals are an important carrier to inherit a nation's excellent costume civilization. Clothing can be divided into formal clothes and casual clothes. From the functional point of view, compared with casual wear, elegant, luxurious and exquisite holiday clothes pay more attention to the expression of cultural connotation. It contains historical information, cultural information, aesthetic information and scientific and technological information, which makes it have more important historical understanding value, artistic value, cultural value and scientific value, and is an important reference for us to study a nation's history, culture, art and technology. If there are no traditional festivals, dressing up will lose its platform and the window to fully display its cultural heritage, and the traditional costume culture will completely die out because of the loss of living environment.

3. Traditional festivals are an important carrier for inheriting various folk arts and skills. In order to set off the atmosphere, whenever the festival comes, people will invite craftsmen from all walks of life to create a warm and festive holiday atmosphere for themselves. These holiday decorations provide a very broad platform for the inheritance of China folk traditional handicraft skills. If traditional festivals are cancelled, folk crafts closely related to traditional festivals will lose their original vitality due to the loss of functions, and traditional handicrafts will disappear completely due to the disappearance of traditional festivals.

4. Traditional festivals are an important window to show the unique literary and artistic forms in this area. Festivals originate from ceremonies. Since it is a sacrifice, it is natural to entertain the gods. The most common ways to entertain the gods are drama, song and dance and various folk performances. This way of entertaining the gods has been passed down to this day. The only difference is that with the weakening of people's original beliefs, the entertainment function of various forms of performances has changed to the direction of entertainment. If there are no traditional festivals, or we must deny these established traditional festivals with the mentality of breaking superstition, the traditional performing arts will die out completely because of the loss of living space.

5. Traditional festivals are also important places to inherit traditional ethics. It is an important function of primitive religion to reconcile the relationship between man and nature and between people. Those traditional festivals born out of primitive religious ceremonies naturally have both functions and play an important role in the process of rebuilding human natural ethics and social ethics. Today, with the decline of traditional morality, promoting traditional festival culture and promoting the harmony between man and nature and interpersonal relationship should be a more efficient and acceptable traditional education method for civil society.
