What conditions do traditional apprentices have to meet before they can take the Chinese medicine exam?

1. Persons before the promulgation of the Law on Medical Practitioners

(1)1before June 26, 1998, those who obtained valid medical qualifications with the approval of the administrative department of traditional Chinese medicine at or above the county level may apply for taking the examination after passing the qualification examination, except those who did not apply for the qualification examination on June 26, 2000 and June 26, 2008;

(2) Before June 26th 1998, those who have been approved by the administrative department of traditional Chinese medicine at or above the county level, have real expertise and obtained effective medical qualifications, and can apply to take the examination after passing the qualification examination, except those who did not sign up for the qualification examination on June 26th 1999 and 2000.

2. Personnel after the promulgation of the Law on Medical Practitioners

(1) To apply for the qualification examination of Chinese medicine doctors, an apprentice must have a high school education or equivalent, and have been studying with the teacher for three consecutive years. Teachers must have the qualifications of practicing doctors of traditional Chinese medicine and ethnic medicine and have been engaged in clinical work of traditional Chinese medicine and ethnic medicine for more than 15 years, or have the qualifications of professional and technical positions above the deputy chief physician of traditional Chinese medicine and ethnic medicine;

(2) Persons who do have expertise in applying for the qualification examination of traditional Chinese medicine doctors should have: they have been engaged in clinical practice of traditional medicine for more than 5 years according to law, mastered unique, safe and effective traditional medical diagnosis and treatment techniques, and have been confirmed by provincial and municipal health and traditional Chinese medicine administrative departments to have medical skills and expertise;

(3) Students who have obtained the master's internship certificate or professional technical certificate of traditional medicine under the guidance of medical practitioners can apply for the qualification of practicing assistant doctors after passing the probation period of 1 year in the medical institutions of their provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government).

(4) Students who have studied and obtained the practicing certificate of practicing assistant doctors and have been engaged in traditional medical work in medical institutions for 5 years under the guidance of practicing doctors may apply for taking the qualification examination of practicing doctors.
