Breaststroke is divided into which types
Breaststroke is divided into three types: traditional breaststroke, Mayo breaststroke and Taguchi breaststroke.
1. Traditional breaststroke.
One of the modern breaststroke technical schools. It is also called regular breaststroke, which refers to the breaststroke posture with smooth body posture, flat and wide arm stroke, early timing of arm and breathing action and arm and leg action, arm and leg action, coordinated and compact coordination, and even swimming speed.
It is the general name of the longest circulating surface breaststroke posture in the international arena before the dolphin breaststroke posture was introduced, hence the name. In China, the more typical traditional breaststroke is the "level sailing breaststroke".
2. American and Austrian breaststroke
Modern breaststroke is one of the technical schools. It appeared in the early 1960s, represented by the technical action of American athlete Yastremsky, and became the new trend of breaststroke technology in the world at that time because it was prevalent in the United States and Austria one after another, so it is called "Breaststroke".
It adopts wide stroke arms and narrow stirrups, with short cycle, fast frequency and compactness, which breaks the old pattern of traditional breaststroke with leg movement as the main source of propulsion, and improves the world record greatly.
Key features:
The technique of flexing the arms and high elbows is adopted during the stroke, so that the forearms and palms are downward and backward as early as possible, which grows to the surface of the water, and the effect of the stroke is significantly improved. Kneeling whip-like stirrup technique, small range of motion, fast frequency, athletes stirrups as if swimming in a tube, it is also known as "tube stirrups".
Adopting the technical structure of "late breathing" and "late coordination", the body posture is smooth when swimming, which is conducive to increasing the traction of the arm movements. The arm and leg movements are compact, and each movement cycle is characterized by short cycle, fast frequency and coherent coordination. The appearance of this technique makes the modern breaststroke technique shift from emphasizing the role of legs to playing the role of arms, which can be said to be a turning point in the history of the development of modern breaststroke technique.
3. Taguchi breaststroke
One of the modern breaststroke techniques. It appeared in the early 1970s, represented by the technical movement of Japanese athlete Nobukado Taguchi. Its characteristics: using high elbow and wide stroke arm combined with narrow stirrups and whip action, stirrup clip at the end of a slight swing at the waist; the use of late breathing and late with both carry forward the narrow stirrups and fast frequency strengths of the Mayo-type breaststroke, but also strengthened the propulsion effect of the arm.
Taguchi himself won the gold medal in the men's 100-meter breaststroke at the 20th Olympic Games in 1972 with this technique and set the world record at 1:4.94. However, because of the slight swaying of the waist during the leg stroke, it was easy to cause a foul. This swimming method had caused controversy in the international swimming world at that time, so it was not widely circulated.
