material preparation

The main materials for making eight-treasure zongzi are glutinous rice, pork, red bean paste, lotus seeds, peanuts, medlar, red dates, scallops and egg yolk. These materials can be bought in supermarkets or vegetable markets. Before making, glutinous rice needs to be soaked for 4-6 hours in advance to taste better.

Production steps

1. Wash glutinous rice, drain water, add proper amount of salt and peanut oil and mix well for later use.

2. Cut the pork into small pieces, add appropriate amount of salt, soy sauce, cooking wine, minced onion, ginger and garlic, pepper powder and other seasonings and marinate for about 20 minutes.

3. Prepare red bean paste, lotus seeds, peanuts, medlar, red dates, scallops and other ingredients for later use.

4. Wash the leaves with clear water, boil them and remove them for later use.

5. Place the two leaves of Zongzi cross, put a proper amount of glutinous rice in the middle, then add a proper amount of meat and ingredients, and finally add an egg yolk.

6. Wrap the glutinous rice leaves and ingredients and tie them with string or straw rope.

7. Put the wrapped zongzi into the pot, add appropriate amount of water, and boil it with medium heat 1.5-2 hours.

Take out the cooked eight-treasure zongzi, cut off the leaves of zongzi with scissors, take out the glutinous rice and ingredients inside, and you can eat it. Babao Zongzi is glutinous but not greasy, and the stuffing is delicious, which makes people drool.
