Synopsis
Editing
Ye Jiaying was born in a courtyard house in Beijing. She was trained at an early age by Mr. Gu Sui, a master of poetry. She played an important role in the long stream of classical Chinese poetry. She introduced Western literary theories to interpret classical Chinese poems, and adopted an eclectic attitude towards new poems, moving between the classical and the modern. Mr. Yip teaches classical Chinese poetry regardless of profession or age, and has been committed to promoting poetry recitation education for children for many years. In addition to her teaching and research, Ms. Yip also integrates her life experiences and state of mind into her creative work, passing down a thousand years of poetic heart and pursuing it relentlessly despite the difficult times. After a lifetime of war, political persecution, and overseas wanderings, she returned to the reform and opening up of China in her later years, continuing to create and teach, and restoring the lifeblood of classical poetry that was interrupted by the Cultural Revolution.
