Classification of automotive generators

Automotive generators are divided into direct-current generators and alternators, alternators are superior to direct-current generators in many ways, so the direct-current generators have been eliminated, alternators are divided into the following categories in accordance with different methods of categorization:

1. According to the overall structure

(1) the ordinary alternator, also known as "silicon rectifier Generator" that is, the use of generators need to be equipped with a voltage regulator.

(2) the whole alternator that is made from the generator and regulator into a whole generator.

(3) with a pump alternator with a pump alternator with a pump is a vacuum pump is not a vacuum booster pump, vacuum booster pump is a car brake system.

(4) brushless alternator that does not require brushes generator.

(5) permanent magnet alternator, i.e., the magnetic pole is a generator made of permanent magnets.

2. By rectifier structure

(1) Six-tube alternator.

(2) Eight-tube alternator.

(3) Nine-tube alternator.

(4) Eleven-tube alternator.

3. According to the magnetic field winding iron form

(1) internal iron type alternator magnetic field winding end (negative pole) direct iron (and shell connected).

(2) external iron type alternator magnetic field winding end (negative pole) into the regulator, through the regulator and then iron.

The alternator is the main power source of the car, driven by the engine, and it supplies power to all electric devices except the starter motor during normal operation, and then charges the battery if there is excess energy.

Expanded information

The working principle of automobile alternator

1, the principle of power generation: E = Cnφ (E is proportional to n and φ)

2, rectification principle

(1) any instant, only a positive diode and a negative diode conduction, and the positive and negative diodes will not be the same bridge in two.

(2) Generator neutral terminal "N", its neutral voltage UN = 1/2U (U is the generator output voltage).

3, excitation mode

(1) first he excitation: the rapid establishment of the magnetic field, to facilitate low-speed charging.

(2) After self-excitation.
