The origin and significance of making zongzi.
Now it is generally believed that eating zongzi on the Dragon Boat Festival is to commemorate the great patriotic poet Qu Yuan. According to legend, in 340 BC, Qu Yuan, a patriotic poet and doctor of the State of Chu, faced with the pain of national subjugation, was filled with grief and indignation. On May 5, he threw a big stone into the Guluo River.
In order to prevent fish and shrimp from hurting his body, ordinary people put rice in bamboo tubes and threw it into the river. In the future, people will put rice in bamboo tubes and throw it into the river to pay homage to Qu Yuan. This is the origin of China's earliest zongzi "tube zongzi".
Zongzi appeared as early as the Spring and Autumn Period, and was officially designated as Dragon Boat Festival food in the Jin Dynasty.
2. Moral:
At first, the meaning of Zongzi was used to worship ancestors and gods, because the ancients thought that May 5 was an evil month and day, and sacrifices must be held on May 5 every year to eliminate the plague, exorcise evil spirits and seek good luck.
As time goes by and changes, people eat zongzi on the Dragon Boat Festival, which is a manifestation of inheriting the tradition. There are many kinds of zongzi in different areas, but the meaning of eating zongzi is the same.
