The 20th At the beginning of the 20th century, Guangdong underwent a radical commercial transformation, and the pursuit of foreign goods became the mainstream of people's consumption. As a result, the concepts of "Lai Lao Gongs" (imported goods), as well as Chinese and foreign ideas, entertainment and lifestyles, began to converge and merge during the Republican period. After the Xinhai Revolution, men cut off their pigtails, combed up their small parts, and put on Western-style clothes. The women's modified cheongsam has become a symbol and classic of the times. On the streets of the provincial capital, at the moment when foreign cars and yellow buses met, overseas Chinese used their cameras to record the unfamiliar scenery that had been missing for a long time. How many beautiful movie-like moments have been staged in the interplay of welcoming lamps in the Taiping Hall (Western Restaurant) and in the mellifluous English songs of the gramophone. How did seafaring a hundred years ago change the lives of people at that time? What impact and inspiration did it bring to the rise of modern Chinese industry and commerce? Job invites you to look back on "Life at Sea in the Republic of China". The exhibition will explain this legendary era in detail from various aspects such as clothing, food, housing and transportation.
