Traditional manual carpenter activities

Recently, a 70-year-old carpenter in Changting, Longyan, Fujian made a video of "Transformers in China" with mortise and tenon technology, which attracted many netizens' praise. How awesome is this carpenter grandpa? Let's take a look together.

This hand-made "Transformers" with mortise and tenon skills is called "Yan Jiaren", which is a wooden doll customized by a game company in Beijing for grandpa carpenter. "Yan Jiaren" is 70 cm high, and its whole body consists of about 65,438+000 wooden parts, all of which were hand-made by grandpa carpenter in a month.

The carpenter's grandfather is Li Shishui, a native of xinqiao town, Changting County, Longyan. I have been a carpenter for more than 50 years since 1969. Without a nail, a drop of glue or any modern mechanical tools, Li Shishui can turn ordinary wood into various daily necessities and even handicrafts with only a pair of skillful hands.

Li Shishui said frankly that carpentry needs not only care, but also patience. Every handmade product has to be polished and debugged hundreds of times.

Li Shishui, Carpenter's grandfather: Sometimes when you lose your temper, you throw it away and you can't make it, and then you make it slowly.

Although the whole process is very difficult, the final work can make everyone happy, and Li Shishui is also very satisfied.

When the epidemic broke out this year, Li Shishui had a little more leisure time, so he wanted to make some "gadgets" for his grandson to amuse him. Soon, works such as "grasshopper car", wooden horse and wooden tank appeared one after another.

Li Shishui, Carpenter's grandfather: Their children have ideas, too. He said he couldn't do it. He just thought of what I want to do. You help me make one.

Now, Li Yuejin, the son of Grandpa Carpenter, often does carpentry with Grandpa Carpenter while managing the online shop. While learning manual carpentry, I also recorded grandpa carpenter's unique love for his grandson by video, and let more people know the magic of traditional woodworking skills through the Internet.

Li Yuejin, son of Li Shishui: My own idea is that this tradition should be combined with modern things, that is, it should be accepted by more people. Especially today's young people, such people inherit the tradition, and a new thing will make young people like it.
