What does vin code mean?
VIN is the abbreviation of English Vehicle Identification Number. Because SAE standard stipulates that the VIN code consists of 17 characters, it is commonly known as 17-bit code.
It includes the manufacturer, year, model, body type and code, engine code and assembly position of the vehicle. Correct interpretation of VIN code is very important for us to correctly identify vehicle types, make correct diagnosis and maintenance.
The code consists of three-digit codes and contains the following information:
The first character code is alphanumeric and is used to indicate geographical regions, such as Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, North America and South America.
The second code is a letter or number, which indicates the country in a specific region. In the United States, the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) is responsible for assigning country codes.
The third code is a letter or number indicating a specific manufacturer, which is assigned by authorized agencies in various countries.
When the annual output of the factory is less than 500 vehicles, the third word of the world factory identification code is 9.
