Expanded Information

Many animals make a wide variety of sounds, which gradually evolved into signals for communication between animals- For example, crickets can utilize the sound of their wings rubbing together to express their feelings. When the male and female get along, the sound tone is light and quiet, like a lover whispering; when alone, it sends out a high-pitched strong sound to attract friends.

Researchers have found that whenever an enemy comes to a termite's nest, the entire colony has often fled without a trace, leaving behind only an empty "city". In order to unravel this mystery, entomologists carried out a special study; it turned out that the termites acting as sentinels were able to send out a "report" on the enemy from far away, knocking on the wall of the cave with their own heads to notify the colony in the nest to retreat immediately.

In nature, there are many animals that use sound to communicate. Many birds have sweet and varied singing voices, and they are excellent singers. It is said that there are as many as two or three thousand bird languages*** around the world, not unlike the variety of human languages. Some zoologists have studied the various languages of birds and compiled a Dictionary of Bird Languages.
