In the early Ming Dynasty, a boss surnamed Chen in Yibin, Sichuan Province, created the "Wende Sheep" wine shop, and dedicated research to explore the recipe for mixed grain wine, which was passed down for six generations. During the Qing Dynasty, the last generation of the Chen family had no children, so Chen San taught his apprentice Zhao Mingsheng the secret recipe, and before Zhao died in 1915, he passed it on to his apprentice Deng Zijun. In 1929, Lei Dongyuan, the director of Yibin county regiment training, held a big family banquet one day, and used mixed grain wine during the banquet, which was praised by the audience. From the beginning of the first year of the Qing Yongzheng, Tongrentang began to specialize in providing Chinese medicine for the Imperial Pharmacy of the Qing Dynasty, and even the emperor and the consort ate the medicines produced by Tongrentang, so that the Tongrentang obtained strong support from the court in terms of funding, and sometimes the Qing Dynasty allocated funds to the Tongrentang once enough to use for several years.
