How to recover quickly after inguinal hernia operation

After traditional hernia repair (patch), you should stay in bed as much as possible to avoid increasing the intra-abdominal pressure in the lower abdomen and affecting the healing of the repaired site. Generally, after 1-2 days, you will start to move in bed, and get out of bed after about 1 week. 3 months can bear the load.

You can get out of bed immediately after tension-free repair (patch), exercise normally for 3-7 days, and bear weight 1 month.

If patients with hernia incarceration undergo enterotomy, they should be fasted until the intestinal function is restored and given intravenous nutrition.

Raise the scrotum after operation to reduce the occurrence of scrotal hematoma and edema.

Keep the dressing clean and dry: if the dressing falls off or is polluted, it should be replaced in time to avoid incision infection, especially for infants. The incision can be taken out in 7 days (no absorbable suture is needed).

It takes 2 weeks to 3 months for local edema of incision to subside without treatment.

Prevent the increase of intra-abdominal pressure: This is an important measure to prevent the recurrence of hernia. Pay attention to keep warm after operation, avoid catching a cold and coughing, keep urine unobstructed and avoid holding your breath.

Try to quit smoking.

If there is bleeding, hematoma, pus and fever in the incision and scrotum, you need to see a doctor in time.
