Longyan spring festival custom
After the founding of New China, organized by the local government and various associations, we collectively beat gongs and drums to pay New Year greetings to the families of martyrs. In recent years, people often set off firecrackers, visit parks and playgrounds, take photos with Range Rover, or get together to enjoy music and radio and television programs.
The next day, I went back to my parents' home to visit relatives, and the Yue family warmly hosted me. Longyan and Zhangping began to have poached eggs and dried powder strips as snacks before the banquet. If it is a wedding, it will be even more grand.
On the third day, folk entertainment activities began, and there were tea-picking lanterns and lion dance performances in both urban and rural areas of Longyan. Lion dance, boat lantern, dragon lantern, missionary society, gongs and drums and folk artists' "Playing the New Year Drum" are very popular among Hakkas. Every household, institution and unit greet each other with firecrackers, watch the performance, and then send them off with red envelopes and firecrackers. On this day, Hakkas will cook New Year's rice in the new year and eat the "New Year's rice" for ancestor worship. This day is also called "Send the Poor Day", which is to treat the garbage at home as a "poor ghost" and clean it out. Family members don't want to go out and don't welcome guests.
On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, Longyan and Zhangping called it "the fifth lunar month", and Hakka called it "opening a small positive". Began to "pray for God", prayed for peace and prosperity all year round, burned the curtain paper hanging at the gate, and went to Shanghang City Hall from the fifth day to the tenth day. On a certain day, the whole family got together for a banquet, and everyone ate a plate of red eggs and encouraged each other with auspicious words. Just one day, you can pick urine and do some small farm work. In some places, traditional activities to greet the gods began.
There is a folk proverb in Liancheng that "the ancestor, Erlang God, the third day (referring to the third day and the fourth night), the fifth day and the sixth day have wine but no meat (referring to later)". In fact, people often play until the middle of the first month. As the Hakka saying goes, "Eat or not, chat (play) until the twentieth day of the first month".
