Sand casting process flow

1, drawing

The traditional method is to obtain casting drawings and send them to foundry. This process can be completed in the quotation. Now more and more customers and foundries are turning to computer-aided design.

2. Mould

In sand casting, the mold is made of wood or other metal materials. In this process, we ask our engineers to make the die size slightly larger than the finished product. This difference is called shrinkage allowance. The purpose is that the molten metal acts on the mold to ensure the solidification and contraction of the molten metal, so as to prevent cavities from appearing in the casting process.

3. Core manufacturing

A core can be manufactured simply by placing resin sand particles in a mold to form a casting with an inner surface. Therefore, the gap between the core and the mold eventually becomes a casting.

Step 4 form

A pair of molds need to be prepared during melting and molding. Molding usually includes the supporting frame of the mold. In the casting process, the mold is pulled out to separate it, the pre-placed core in the mold is melted, and then the mold mouth is closed.

5, clean

The purpose of cleaning is to remove sand, polishing and excess metal from castings. Welding and sand removal can improve the surface appearance of castings.

Remove burnt sand and scale to improve the surface appearance of castings. Remove excess metal and other risers. Further welding, grinding and other steps. Finally, check its defects and comprehensive quality.

6, finishing

Re-process before delivery. According to the requirements of different customers, we can do heat treatment, surface treatment, additional inspection and so on.

Extended data

The characteristics of chemical hardening sand casting process are as follows:

① The strength of the chemically hardened sand mold is much higher than that of the clay sand mold, and after the sand mold is made, it will be peeled off after hardening to a fairly high strength, and there is no need to repair the mold. Therefore, the mold can accurately reflect the size and outline shape of the pattern, and it is not easy to deform in the later processing.

(2) Because the used binder and hardener have low viscosity, they are easy to be mixed with sand particles. The sand mixing equipment has the advantages of light structure, low power and high productivity, and can simplify the sand treatment work.

③ The mixed sand has good fluidity before hardening, and it is easy to be compacted during molding, so there is no need for a huge and complicated molding machine.

④ When molding with chemically hardened sand, mold materials, such as wood, plastic and metal, can be selected according to production needs.
