What is the purpose of a Gantt chart in production management

It illustrates a series of tasks and time combinations associated with a project. The Gantt chart is in the form of a bar chart where the horizontal axis is the time or date and the vertical axis is the tasks that need to be accomplished. The advantages of the Gantt chart are that it is graphically summarized, easy to understand, and conveys a great deal of information.
