Xiangfan City is located in the north of Hubei Province, living in the middle reaches of the Han River, the largest tributary of the Yangtze River, the Qinling Dabashan remaining veins, is a national historical and cultural city, the provincial vice-center of Hubei Province, the national important railroad transportation hub and automobile industry base, the center of the adjoining areas of E., H., Y., Y., and S...". Xiangfan is also "China's Outstanding Tourist City", "China's Charming City", "Hometown of Three Kingdoms Culture in China", and "Hometown of Red-billed Acacia Bird in China". In December 2010, the State Council approved the renaming of Xiangfan City to Xiangyang City in Hubei Province. The former Xiangfan Xiangyang District was renamed Xiangzhou District in Xiangyang City.
