What kinds of household waste can be categorized?

Types of garbage

Recyclable

The five main categories include waste paper, plastic, glass, metal and fabric.

Waste paper: mainly includes newspapers, periodicals, books, and all kinds of wrapping paper. However, note that paper towels and toilet paper are not recyclable because they are too water-soluble.

Plastic: all kinds of plastic bags, plastic foam, plastic packaging, disposable plastic lunch boxes tableware, hard plastic, plastic toothbrushes, plastic cups, mineral water bottles and so on.

Glass: mainly includes all kinds of glass bottles, broken glass pieces, mirrors, thermos flasks and so on.

Metallic objects: mainly include cans, can boxes, etc.

Fabrics: mainly include discarded clothes, tablecloths, washcloths, school bags, shoes, etc.

These wastes can be recycled through comprehensive treatment to reduce pollution and save resources. For example, each recycled 1 ton of waste paper can make good paper 850 kilograms, saving 300 kilograms of wood, than the same amount of production to reduce pollution by 74%; each recycled 1 ton of plastic beverage bottles can get 0.7 tons of secondary raw materials; each recycled 1 ton of scrap iron and steel can be refined 0.9 tons of steel, smelting with ore to save 47% of the cost than 47% to reduce air pollution by 75% to reduce 97% of the water pollution and solid waste.

Non-recyclable

Food waste

Includes leftovers, bones, roots and leaves, peels and other food waste.

Composted by biotechnology in-situ treatment, it can produce 0.6~0.7 tons of organic fertilizer per ton.

Other garbage

Including in addition to the above categories of garbage, brick ceramics, slag, toilet paper, paper towels and other difficult to recycle waste and shells, dust. The adoption of sanitary landfill can effectively reduce the pollution of groundwater, surface water, soil and air.

In fact, the big stick bone because "difficult to corrode" is included in the "other garbage". Corn kernels, nut shells, fruit kernels and chicken bones are kitchen waste.

Toilet paper

Toilet paper and toilet paper dissolve when exposed to water and are not considered recyclable "paper", but similarly pottery and cigarette boxes.

Kitchen garbage bagging

Commonly used plastic bags, even if they are degradable, are far more difficult to corrode than kitchen waste. In addition the plastic bags themselves are recyclable waste. The correct way to do this is to put the kitchen waste into the trash can, and the plastic bags into the "recyclable trash" bin.

Shells

In the classification of garbage, "shells and peanuts" is identified as peanut shells, which are indeed food waste. Waste cooking oil used at home is also categorized as "kitchen waste".

Dust

Dust is categorized as "other garbage" in the garbage classification, but leaf litter is categorized as "kitchen garbage," including flowers that have fallen out of bloom at home.

Toxic and hazardous waste

Waste that contains heavy metals or toxic substances that are harmful to human health, or that cause actual or potential harm to the environment. It includes batteries, fluorescent tubes, light bulbs, mercury thermometers, paint buckets, some home appliances, expired medicines, and expired cosmetics. These wastes are generally disposed of using separate recycling or landfills.

Causes of Generation

Everyone throws out much of their daily In some areas with better waste management, most of the garbage is disposed of harmlessly in sanitary landfills, incineration, and composting, while in many more places the garbage is often improvised and piled up or landfilled, leading to the spread of foul odors and contamination of the soil and groundwater bodies.

The cost of harmless garbage disposal is very high, ranging from about a hundred to several hundred dollars to dispose of a ton of garbage, depending on the method of disposal. People consume a lot of resources, mass produce, consume a lot, and produce a lot of garbage. The consequences will be unimaginable.

From the domestic and foreign cities on the classification of domestic garbage method, roughly according to the composition of the composition of the garbage, the amount of production, combined with the local garbage resource utilization and treatment methods for classification. For example, Germany is generally divided into paper, glass, metal and plastic; Australia is generally divided into compostable garbage, recyclable garbage, non-recyclable garbage;

Japan is generally divided into plastic bottles, recyclable plastics, other plastics, resource garbage, large-scale garbage, combustible garbage, non-combustible garbage, hazardous garbage and so on.

Principles of Classification

Separate and Use

The purpose of classification is to divert waste for disposal, to utilize existing production and manufacturing capacity, to recycle and utilize recycled products, including material use and energy use, and to dispose of unwanted garbage in landfills that cannot be utilized for the time being.

Adapting to local conditions

The geography, level of economic development, ability of enterprises to recycle and utilize waste, source of inhabitants, living habits, and economic and psychological affordability vary from place to place, from district to district, from community to community (district), and from neighborhood to neighborhood.

Consciously and autonomously

Communities and residents, including enterprises and institutions, have gradually developed the behavioral norms of "reduction, recycling, consciousness and autonomy", and have innovated the mode of garbage classification and treatment to become the main force of garbage reduction, classification, recycling and utilization.

Subsidizing emission reduction and penalizing over-emission

Developing a standard for unit and residential garbage emission, subsidizing those below this emission standard and penalizing those above it. The more emissions are reduced, the more subsidies will be given, and the more emissions are exceeded, the heavier the penalties will be, so as to increase the motivation of units and residents to implement source reduction and emission control.

Bundling services and focusing on performance

When residents have not yet acted voluntarily and consciously, and the resources of neighborhood (village) committees and the government are insufficient, the promotion of categorized emissions requires the intervention of property management companies and other enterprises. However, it is difficult to make a profit just by undertaking the sorting and discharging, and it is impossible for enterprises to intervene, while the implementation of bundled services can solve this problem. The promotion of classified discharge services and garbage collection, wet and dry waste disposal business bundled, can promote the capitalization of waste classification, to ensure that the enterprise reasonable profit.

Rubbish classification and recycling is not difficult to say, divided and used is the key, according to local conditions to provide convenience, self-conscious self-governance behavior norms.
