What are the new culture modes of shellfish?

(1) Polyculture mode of shellfish and shrimp in shrimp ponds. Polyculture of scallops not only purifies the water quality, but also facilitates the transformation of plankton in shrimp ponds into protein of scallops, and improves the yield and economic benefits.

(2) Polyculture mode of shellfish and sea cucumber: Scallops and sea cucumber are polyculture, and sea cucumber can clean the cage by eating mixed algae, and even scallop feces are good bait for sea cucumber. After the sea cucumber was cleaned, the water permeability of the cage was enhanced, which was beneficial to the feeding and growth of scallops.

(3) Interplanting method of shellfish and algae: kelp or Undaria pinnatifida are suspended horizontally in shallow water between rafts, while Chlamys farreri and mussels are suspended vertically. Metabolites of shellfish provide organic fertilizer for algae and increase the nitrogen content in the sea area. CO2 exhaled by shellfish increases the raw materials for photosynthesis of kelp, and at the same time, it also eats phytoplankton that compete with kelp for fertilizer. The growth of kelp changes the water quality conditions and is beneficial to the growth of shellfish.

(4) Rotation cultivation mode of shellfish and algae According to the different production seasons of shellfish and algae, the same sea area is used to cultivate shellfish and kelp in the first stage. Rotation cultivation can not only improve the sea environment, but also make full use of floating raft facilities at sea and improve production efficiency.
