The origin of Miao bullfighting

Miao people are descendants of Chiyou. It is said that Emperor Chiyou is a bull. Miao people respect, love and worship cows. They regard cows as symbols of health, strength, hard work, fighting and heroes. Miao people love bullfighting, which is a long cultural tradition. In the past, bullfighting was used to celebrate the harvest and relax farmers' hearts. Now every holiday party will have this activity. There is also a widely circulated story about the origin of the Bull Run Festival: It is said that Pingzhai was flooded one year, and the flood did not subside for a long time. It was not until the 25th day of the first month that two buffaloes fought on the flooded shore that the flood disappeared and the grain was harvested that year. Miao descendants designated the 25th day of the first lunar month as the "Bull Running Festival". At this time of the year, Miao people from all directions gather here to hold activities such as "jumping in the garden" and "bullfighting".
