Time and method of plum grafting

First, when grafting, the selection method is different and the time is different. If you want to use laparotomy or skin grafting, you can do it in March of spring. If you want to use the bud grafting method, the time can be chosen in July. If the xylem bud grafting method is used, it is better to do it in autumn and September.

Second, the method 1, rootstock: usually the rootstock used for grafting is in a healthy state, and then it is sawed off at a position about 6- 10cm from the ground.

2. Scion: The scion used should be strong and have full buds. There should be 5-7 buds on the scion, and the length is about 7- 10cm. Graft as soon as possible after cutting, or wrap it with a wet towel if grafting is not carried out at that time to avoid water evaporation.

3. Grafting: At the initial stage of grafting, water with backwater, flatten the rootstock with a sharp knife, and then cut a 3cm wound. The bottom of the scion also needs to be cut to the same length as the wound of the rootstock, and the bottom should be cut into a wedge shape, then inserted into the incision of the rootstock and wrapped in a plastic bag.
