The easiest way to make a fire.

The simplest way to make a fire: bow drill fire-making skills.

Perhaps many people have heard of the ancient technology of drilling wood to make fire, but if you only drill wood by hand, many people may find that you can't make fire when your palm hurts unbearable. Therefore, another better technique can be used, that is, using a bow drill.

First of all, you need to find a bow-shaped stick three or four centimeters long and tie it with a rope like shoelaces. Next, find a strong piece of wood suitable for drilling. Hardwood is very good, such as cedar, hemlock or oak. It is best to peel the long drill pipe. When you rotate the drill bit with a bow, you'd better prepare something to fix the drill pipe. If nothing is found, you can press a stone on it to fix it.

Before you start, remember to put some dry kindling on the drillable wood, put a long drill pipe on the main shaft of the rope, and then start pulling it back and forth. This operation is easier than holding the wood directly with both hands.

Matters needing attention in field fire burning

1. Site selection: Choose a suitable location, away from flammable materials, water sources, trees and grasslands, and avoid making fires in high-incidence mountain fire areas and nature reserves.

2. Fire pit digging: dig a fire pit with a diameter of about 1m and a depth of about 30cm on the ground to prevent the fire from spreading.

3. Prepare fuel: collect dry wood, bark, branches and other fuels, and avoid using wet or oily wood to avoid fire.

4. Ignition: use ignition tools such as matches and lighters, and keep the flame away from the tuyere to prevent the fire from being blown away by the wind.

5. Control the fire: always pay attention to the fire to ensure that the flame does not exceed the scope of the fire pit. When necessary, use earth, sand or fire extinguishers to put out the fire source in time.
