Purpose of Dai dance training

Teaching purposes:

1. Cognitive objectives: Through the study of Dai dance, students will have a preliminary understanding of the basic style and movement characteristics of Dai dance.

2. Skill objectives: To expand and enrich students' horizons and knowledge, master the basic hand shapes and hand positions of Dai dance, and extensively accumulate dance materials in order to continuously improve their ability to appreciate and perform dance.

3. Moral education goal: to enhance students’ love for minority culture through Dai dance teaching.

Introduction

It is generally recognized that the Dai people are hard-working, brave, gentle and kind; "a nation like water" is another description of the character of the Dai people. They are polite and gentle, soft on the outside but strong on the inside, smart, intelligent and humorous. Their personalities are like water. Sometimes they are like a trickling stream, gentle and delicate; sometimes they are like the torrent of a river, rushing and surging.

The dance of the Dai people also fully reflects this colorful national character. The dance of the Dai people has a long history. According to the "Book of the Later Han·Biography of Southwest Yi", in the first year of Yongning (120), the leader of the Shan people, the ancestors of the Dai people, once presented large-scale music, dance and acrobatics to the emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty. This shows that as early as more than 1,000 years ago, there was a high level of singing and dancing performance art in the local area.

There are many kinds of Dai dances, with various forms, wide popularity, and each has its own characteristics. Representative programs can generally be divided into three categories: self-entertainment, performance, and sacrificial programs.
