Present situation and development trend of international multimodal transport in China

According to the data of the Ministry of Transport, in 2020, the first three batches of 70 multimodal transport demonstration projects will complete the container multimodal transport volume of about 4.8 million TEUs. The national ports completed 6.87 million TEUs of combined transport of molten iron containers, up 29.6% year-on-year.

However, at present, the scale of domestic multimodal transport is small, and there is still a big gap compared with developed countries. Further promoting the development of multimodal transport, strengthening the construction of multimodal transport system and promoting the operation level of multimodal transport are still important tasks in the field of transportation and logistics in China during the 14 th Five-Year Plan period. It is predicted that the domestic multimodal transport market will have great growth space in the next few years.

Multimodal transport is a kind of cargo transport service that relies on the effective connection of two or more modes of transport and provides an integrated organization throughout the whole process. It has the characteristics of long industrial chain, high resource utilization rate and good comprehensive benefits, which is of positive significance to promote the logistics industry to reduce costs and increase efficiency, the green and low-carbon development of transportation and improve the modern comprehensive transportation system.

Multimodal transport industrial policy

At present, the development level of China's multimodal transport is still low, and the problems such as poor coordination, imperfect market environment, inadequate regulations and standards, and lagging application of advanced technology are more prominent. In order to further accelerate the development of multimodal transport and build an efficient and smooth multimodal transport system, a series of policies and measures have been introduced at the national level to promote the development of the industry.

In recent years, a series of domestic breakthrough policies and measures have promoted the rapid development of multimodal transport with unprecedented strength. From government to enterprise, from coastal to inland, from shipping to railway, from hardware to software, the deadlock in the field of logistics and transportation has been gradually broken. With the joint efforts of many favorable policies, demonstration projects and technological innovation, multimodal transport is entering a period of all-round development.

Demonstration project construction project

By the beginning of March, 20021,the Ministry of Transport announced three batches of 70 multimodal transport demonstration projects. The specific list is as follows:

Judging from the regional distribution of multimodal transport demonstration projects, it involves 28 provinces/municipalities directly under the central government, of which Hubei Province has the largest number of related projects, with 5 * * *; Followed by four multimodal transport demonstration projects in Guangdong, Hebei, Jiangsu, Shandong and Xinjiang.

This industry has a lot of room for development.

In 2020, the first three batches of 70 multimodal transport demonstration projects will complete the container multimodal transport volume of about 4.8 million TEUs. The national ports completed 6.87 million TEUs of combined transport of molten iron containers, up 29.6% year-on-year. China Railway Chengdu Bureau Group actively explores the "one-single-system" for rail-river combined transport and the "one-single-system" for Shandong Shenyi inland port transit to accelerate the innovation of combined transport services.

At present, the scale of domestic multimodal transport is small, and there is still a big gap compared with developed countries, and there is still room for growth in the industry market. It is expected that the market segments such as sea-rail combined transport and international railway transport will maintain a strong growth trend.

In recent years, promoting regional coordinated development is an important task of economic system reform in the new period. The overall promotion of western development, the overall revitalization of Northeast China and the rise of Central China, and the accelerated implementation of regional development strategies such as the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta will all bring about the overall improvement of infrastructure construction density and networking.

The interconnection and innovation of transportation channels and logistics channels are conducive to the rapid agglomeration of multimodal transport elements, the scale effect of logistics industry clusters begins to appear, and a "point-axis" cross-regional multimodal transport network is initially formed.

According to the Guiding Opinions on Building a World-class Port, it is planned that by 2025, the railway entry rate of important port areas for containers and dry bulk cargo will reach more than 60%, and bulk goods such as ore and coal will be mainly transported by rail or water; By 2035, the important port areas will basically achieve full coverage of railway entry, and the proportion of container-iron-water combined transport in ports will increase significantly. It is expected that the domestic multimodal transport freight volume will increase significantly in the next few years.

Analysis of industry development trend

Further promoting the development of multimodal transport, strengthening the construction of multimodal transport system and improving the operational level of multimodal transport are still important tasks in the field of transportation and logistics in China during the 14 th Five-Year Plan period. The future development trend of the industry mainly includes the following aspects:
