China ancient armor development history?
Simple protective equipment. In the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, people changed the original full leather nails into partially movable leather nails, that is, according to different body parts, leather was cut into pieces of different sizes and shapes, two or more pieces of leather were put together, painted on the surface, made into a solid, beautiful and durable nail piece, and then punched on the nail piece and woven into a nail piece with ropes. Leather armor can cooperate with shields in car battles and can effectively defend against bronze weapons. While using leather armor, some bronze castings are also used on armor, but they are not common. In the late Warring States period, sharp steel weapons were gradually used in actual combat, which prompted changes in protective equipment and the appearance of armored armor. The earliest ironclad was unearthed in Yanxiadu Site in Yixian County, Hebei Province. But it was not until the Han Dynasty that the real armor gradually replaced the leather armor. The armor of the Western Han Dynasty experienced a development process from coarse to fine, from armor woven with larger strip armor pieces (also known as armor bars) to scales woven with smaller armor pieces. From the form of protecting only the chest and back, it has developed into a "shoulder" to protect the shoulders and a "vertical edge" to protect the waist and buttocks. With the improvement of steel processing technology, the fineness and hardness of armor are getting higher and higher, and the types are becoming more and more diverse. The parts that protect the body are gradually enlarged and the functions are becoming more and more complete. By the time of the reflection, some new types of armor had appeared. There are five kinds of armor in Cao Zhi's List of Armor Gifted by the First Emperor, namely black armor, bright armor, double armor, ring-locked armor and vest. During the Northern and Southern Dynasties, with the development of heavy armored cavalry, the armor of these two cavalry equipments was extremely popular. After the Northern Wei Dynasty, bright armor became increasingly popular and gradually became the most important type of armor until the Sui and Tang Dynasties. In the early years of the Northern Song Dynasty, armor developed more perfectly and formed a certain system. The appearance of firearms made the ancient armor that effectively resisted cold weapons begin to decline. It was not until the early 20th century that the Qing Dynasty compiled a "new army" equipped with modern guns that the use of ancient armor came to an end.
