Origin of squint
Squint originated in the Western artwork Fu Manchu series as a tall, thin, bald, sinister-faced, Qing Dynasty official character with an extremely high IQ and a PhD from several prestigious universities.
The man specializes in science and medicine, and is fluent in the languages of the world and the ancient secret arts of the Orient. Movie and television dramas portrayed Fu Manchu, as an evil, powerful figure, and gave him a squinty-eyed look in order to emphasize his ugliness.
It wasn't until 1980, when Chinese Americans launched a boycott of Fu Manchu, that his image was banned. It's clear that it was Europe and the US that actively stigmatized the Chinese back then that fabricated the Fu Manchu look.
