I dare not forget the 800-word biography of worrying about the country and the people.
What did he die of?
Suffering from hunger for a long time, he met a kind county magistrate, who sent beef and wine. After a big meal, the poet "passed out drunk, aged 59."
Who is this poet? He is the great poet Du Fu.
For such a person who shines through the ages, we really can't accept his ending-supporting death. Living in him is really humble and painful. Thousands of years later, this "poet saint" who was looked up to by thousands of people only struggled tirelessly in 59 years of suffering, and his life was condensed by blood and tears.
Du Fu has a beautiful saying.
Born in a bureaucratic family, he was a teenager and was in the heyday of Kaiyuan. "Rice is fat and white, and public and private warehouses are rich." During the ten years from the age of twenty to twenty-nine, Du Fu experienced three or four long-term roaming.
In 746, the poet returned to Chang 'an from Qilu, ending the wandering life of "Happy 89". Since then, his life has never been bright. In Chang 'an, my career was not smooth, I was hungry and cold for a long time, and my life was extremely dark. After the An Shi Rebellion broke out, Du Fu's living condition was even more unimaginable in the flames of war, in the concern for his family whose life and death were uncertain, in the strong feelings of worrying about the country and the people, and in the former imperial capital with rivers of blood and bones everywhere.
When he went to Fengxiang to go to Su Zong, he struggled in the cold and sinister forest. His life was at stake and he could die at any time. The longing for life and the fear of death disturb and torture people's hearts most.
When he left Chang 'an and returned to his hometown, as an official, he was only attacked by Tsing Yi, and even the thin horse could not ride.
He is careful to be his junior official, but he is doing his duty wholeheartedly and trembling. In the end, he was rejected by the emperor, and with the support of his friends, he went to live in a thin thatched cottage in Zhou Shu.
Living with him is unfair, even cruel, but what about his attitude towards life?
In any case, he doesn't just complain about fate and self-pity. He always cares about the people of the whole country and always has a caring and loving heart.
On a rainy day in August, the house felt extremely cold and desolate because of the rain leakage. However, at this moment, what Du Fu thinks is "a vast building, all the poor in the world are happy, and the wind and rain are still peaceful." How kind! Looking at the whole Tang Dynasty, how many people have such a compassionate mind?
Another anecdote of Du Fu said that there was a widow who had no children and no food. She often went to play dates under a jujube tree near the thatched cottage where Du Fu lived, and Du Fu never interfered. After Du Fu left the thatched cottage, his Wu relatives lived there, but a fence was built around the jujube tree, and Du Fu pleaded with Wu relatives for the widow. Such a thing may sound dismissive to us. But with this kind heart, who can practice to this extent?
Du Fu's benevolence and righteousness are not only reflected in major events, but also in these nuances. His concern for social life is not vague, but meticulous and moving.
Du Fu, in a tortuous and gloomy life, is immortal because of his great spirit.
The injustice of fate did not destroy him, but made him.
