Zhanjiang Donghai Island is a large, flat and open island with an area of 286 square kilometers, ranking fifth in the country. The island has a population of about 150,000 people, who traditionally make a living by fishing at sea and growing dryland crops such as coffin cassava, sweet potato, sugar cane and peanuts. Since the construction of the cross-sea embankment in 1958, you can drive 23 kilometers from the city to the town of Dongshan in the center of the island, and then 20 kilometers to the east, you will arrive at the "Donghai Island Provincial Tourist Resort".
