Research on Carp Carnivorous Feeding

Carp family fishes (carp, crucian carp) are demersal fishes, feeding mainly relies on taste buds on sensory organs and precise feeding behavior through the positioning of lateral lines. For the research of carp predator there are mainly electrophysiological method, behavioral method and feeding growth method, which are introduced one by one below.

Electrophysiological methods, based on bioelectrical phenomena, record the electrical changes caused by the opening and closing of ion channels under the action of ingested substances, and monitor four aspects: ion channels, receptor organs, transmission nerves and central processing. The electrical changes in the nervous system are monitored using the diaphragm clamp method, receptor neuron recording method, olfactory epithelial underwater olfactory potential method, olfactory bulb electroencephalography method, olfactory bundle recording method, gustatory facial nerve recording method, and cross-adaptation method to analyze the chemicals with the strongest electrical changes.

Behavioral method, is to observe the feeding behavior of fish through the experimental device class, and then study and analyze the data. Mainly includes swallowing particles method, bumping ball method, behavioral observation method, maze method. Through different stimulus gradients, to come up with the favorite food components of carp fish.

The ingestion growth method, which takes the intake of different foods by carp as an evaluation index, is used to analyze the experimental data for a longer period of time, and finally the favorite food components of carp are derived.

Finally, with the increase in the use of commercial baits, the research methods of predator for carp (carp, crucian carp) have been gradually developed and improved, and the objectivity and accuracy have been greatly enhanced. Predators for carp are changing from traditional chemical predators to hormonal predators, and due to the strong nerve stimulating function of hormonal substances, the future must be the world of hormonal predators in the field of fish predation
