Dazhou City, Sichuan Province has a long-standing custom of "Mountain Climbing in Yuan Dynasty". People use it to climb mountains and look into the distance, pray for blessing, and look forward to sweeping away the decline of the old times and welcoming everything in the new year. This year's climbing was crowned by the municipal party Committee and the municipal government with the theme of "Climbing every year, everyone makes progress", which not only makes climbing a solar term, but also makes people yearn for it. Friends from Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi and other places also praised it as good.

According to legend, in 8 15, Yuan Zhen (779-83 1, poet of the Tang Dynasty, known as Yuan Jiu) was demoted to Tongzhou (now Dazhou) as Sima. Tongzhou when he first took office: "People are isolated from the world, snakes and insects are in power", and Yuan Zhen made great efforts to govern. The elders of the whole city climbed the Cuiping Mountain in the south of the city and the Phoenix Mountain in the north of the city, and they were reluctant to part. Dazhou has since broken away from the traditional custom of "Yuanjiu" climbing the mountain. On the ninth day of January every year, the city is deserted, and men, women and children compete to climb mountains outside the city to commemorate this good official. They never stopped until they reached the top of the mountain, rain or shine, and they continue to this day. People take this opportunity to climb high and look far and pray for God's blessing. Yuanjiu climbs high and cherishes Yuanjiu, and the soul of poetry often follows the phoenix.

There are two popular legends about the origin of "Ascending the Mountain in Yuan Dynasty":

1. Celebrate the birthday of the Jade Emperor. Taoism regards the ninth day of the first month as the birthday of the Jade Emperor. People celebrate it devoutly and worship it over the years.

2. Commemorate the departure of Yuan Zhen. Yuan Zhen was demoted to Tongzhou Sima and served as an official for more than three years. When he left office, people saw him off in the city and climbed high to see him off. Since then, this has been the anniversary.
