What are the basic requirements and basis for making beehives?

(1) It should conform to the living habits of bees, be able to live in all seasons, lay eggs and live insects, store food, keep warm and ventilated, and preserve bee power.

(2) It is convenient to standardize the operation and management specifications and dimensions, and it is convenient for communication and universality. At the same time, it should be light and strong, durable and cheap. Generally speaking, basswood, catalpa bungeana and Chinese fir are better.

(3) The design should be based on the size of beehives, the size and number of nest frames, and the spawning ability of queen bees of various bee species and the seasonal fluctuation.

Because bees collect and process propolis to make "protective agent", "bacteriostatic agent", "adhesive" and "cleaning agent" for bees, it plays a key role in disease prevention, feed storage and larval development of bees, so propolis is a natural protective substance of bees and is known as "the protector of bees".

Most bee pollen is non-toxic, no matter how long and how much it is taken, it is absolutely safe. But there are also a few kinds of pollen that are poisonous, such as tripterygium wilfordii pollen and veratrum nigrum pollen. However, these poisonous plants are extremely rare, and the amount of pollen is very small. Bees can rarely collect them back to their nests, let alone form batches, and let alone mix them into markets or processing plants. Don't worry about this when eating.
