Rituals of Moon Worship at Mid-Autumn Festival

The ritual begins when the moon rises in the Mid-Autumn Festival. Chinese rituals emphasize "sacrificing as if you were there, sacrificing to the gods as if they were there", and the key to moon worship in Mid-Autumn is to show respect to the moon god, and the weather is not a key factor. If there is no moon or even rain during the Mid-Autumn Festival, the moon can be sacrificed.

Wherever the moonlight can shine, it can be held. If it is cloudy, you can place an offering table in the direction of the moon. If it is raining, you can move to the eaves or indoors, but you need to open the windows and doors and offer sacrifices facing the direction of the moon.

Take care that the altar is not placed in a dirty place. When indoors, try not to place it next to electrical appliances, such as televisions and refrigerators. It should also not be placed in places where there is noise, such as if your family lives next to a highway and there are noises such as car honking, place it as far away from these noises as possible.

According to tradition, men do not worship the moon. Men may assist in moon worship or perform other assisting tasks. It is still primarily a local custom. Of course, it is okay to worship the moon as a sign of respect. The food offered can be shared with family members, neighbors, business partners, etc., to represent blessings and greetings, to harmonize family and neighborly relations, and to generate wealth through harmony.

Specific operations:

1. Smoke incense to purify the environment.
