Technological exploration of Dongba paper

Papermaking is one of the four great inventions in ancient China, which has played an important role in promoting the development of human civilization. Modern papermaking has developed to machine manufacturing, but there are still primitive hand-made papermaking in Yunnan minority areas. Among them, Dongba paper of Naxi nationality is famous for carrying Naxi hieroglyphics and writing many Dongba scriptures, which has always been concerned by academic circles. However, what is the current situation of Dongba paper production? How did it originate? What are the traditional experiences? How to protect and develop this precious traditional craft needs further study. There are still many places in Naxi nationality where traditional Dongba paper making is preserved, among which Daju in Yulong County of Lijiang City and Bai Di in Shangri-La County of Diqing Prefecture have attracted much attention. The author made a detailed investigation on Dongba paper making in the two places, and adopted the method of participatory investigation in Bai Di, which increased the understanding and knowledge of Dongba paper making technology. Subsequently, the author brought his own tools, made Dongba paper by traditional technology, and made bold innovations in the production method of Dongba paper, which not only kept the inherent characteristics of Dongba paper, but also reduced the cost and improved the efficiency, and made some explorations in protecting the environment and promoting national traditional culture. I. Present Situation of Dongba Paper Production (I) Dongba Paper White Land in Bai Di is a villagers' committee in Sanbanaxi Township, Shangri-La County, located at the eastern foot of Haba Snow Mountain, and there is a tourist ring road passing through the village. The northwest is away from the county seat 10 1km, and the southeast is 80km away from Hutiaoxia. Baishuitai is a famous scenic spot in China.
