Why are Japanese women called "Yamato Nadeshiko"?
The so-called "Nadeshiko" is actually the Japanese name for the quebracho of the Stapeliaceae family. Nadeshiko is one of the seven traditional Japanese herbs of Autumn: Hagi (Hagi), Cattail, Kudzu, Quercus, Lady's mantle, Orchid, Petunia (or thought to be Eustoma or Juglans)
The flowers are mostly pink, with single petals in many pieces, and the petals have a fringed edge, which makes them look very delicate and lovely.
Because Nadeshiko gives the impression of gentleness, serenity, and purity, which is in line with the highest standard of beauty for women in the Japanese tradition, it is only natural that Nadeshiko is given as a title to women who are recognized for their purity and beauty. Needless to say, we all know that Yamato is now the dominant ethnic group in Japan, and has become a synonym for Japan. Yamato Nadeshiko, that's how it came to be.
