What are the characteristics of Chaozhou opera singing?
The characteristics of Chaozhou opera singing are mainly manifested in its timbre. Generally, there are four kinds of tunes used in Qupai singing or antithesis singing, namely, light 36, heavy 36, lively 35, and anti-line, and there are also tunes such as "locking the south branch", "playing quail" and "breaking the tune".
The authentic singing of Chaozhou Opera is mainly influenced by Yiyang and Kunqu Opera imported from other places, which is quite different from the falsetto singing of Beijing Opera and Cantonese Opera. The ancient music score "Si Er Score" is used for singing and full of charm.
Singing is a combination of Qupai and Banqiang, with Qupai Legato as the main part, and has always retained the form of chorus, two or three people singing a song or ending a song, with unique style and strong expressive force.
