Jun Porcelain Art of Imperial Kiln in the Song Dynasty

From June 5438 to1October 9, 2006, the National Museum of China collected contemporary Jun porcelain works for the first time: "Heaven and Earth Man" series Xiangrui bottles, Gankun bottles and Huaxia bottles. This is also the highest courtesy received by contemporary porcelain. Mr Ji Xianlin, a master of Chinese studies, happily wrote an inscription-"Xiangrui, Gankun and Huaxia are the souls of Jun porcelain".

"The gods are colorful in the kiln, the wonder lies in the artistic conception and glaze painting, the beauty lies in the mysterious lines, the harmony between man and nature, and the fame of the famous kiln is precious in the era of Jun God."

Jun porcelain began in the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Song Dynasty, with a history of more than 1000 years. The early Jun kilns were widely distributed in Bachun, Yingchuan County, Guyuzhou (now Shenhou Town, Yuzhou City, Henan Province), and were named after the official kiln in Song Jun, which was located near Juntai, a vassal of Xia Qi. Since the Tang and Song Dynasties, emperors have listed Jun porcelain as a royal tribute, and only 36 pieces are allowed to be produced as tribute to the imperial court every year, and private storage is not allowed among the people, hence the name "Shen Junbao Porcelain".

In ancient times, the son of heaven was the monarch. Because "Jun" and "Jun" are homophonic, emperors of all dynasties issued orders that "Jun should not be buried with him". There are few collections in major museums around the world. There were some sayings in the past, such as "Gold is valuable without market", "A rich family is not as good as a piece of Jun porcelain" and "An elegant hall without Jun cannot boast wealth".

China has a long history of ceramics, with numerous kilns and various varieties. Before the Tang Dynasty, China porcelain was mainly blue and white, which was called "blue in the south and white in the north". With the prosperity of the Song Dynasty, five famous kilns, namely Jun Kiln, Ru Kiln, Guan Kiln, Ge Kiln and Ding Kiln, came into being. During the firing process, the glaze color of Jun porcelain was gasified into a unique artistic effect due to the rich elements in the unique glaze minerals, which became a great invention in the history of porcelain making in China, and was called "kiln change", thus ending the situation that "southern blue and northern white" dominated the whole country. To make a simple analogy, if the ceramic world was a silent black-and-white movie before Jun porcelain appeared, then after Jun porcelain appeared, the ceramic world in China entered a colorful movie era.

Jun porcelain "kiln change" is a kind of glaze applied at the same time when it is fired, but once it is fired, it will be colorful. Therefore, the cloud "enters the kiln with one color and leaves the kiln with all colors". The ever-changing effect of kiln has formed the magic of endless color changes, including purple in red, deep blue in purple, white in green and red in white. It is interesting and thought-provoking to look at it from different angles under different light. Known as "endless changes, endless artistic conception", "unparalleled Jun porcelain, unparalleled kiln change". The opening of Jun porcelain, also called "exploding porcelain", feels smooth as broken. In the cracked glaze, there are miracles that human beings can't complete: pearl spots, fish egg lines, crab claw marks, rabbit threads, spider webs and earthworms walking in the mud, which have become treasures from generation to generation and are of great collection value. Jun porcelain is famous for its mountains and rivers, and its types appeared in the kiln transformation: dusk summer, purple blue, western Western jackdaw returning to the forest, starry sky, fairy mountain Qiongge, Jiangnan apricot rain and so on. Jun porcelain with a landscape frame is listed as the best ever.

As Long Yongtu, Secretary-General of Boao Forum for Asia, said at the opening ceremony of the official kiln in the Song Dynasty on March 26th, 2005, "After careful consideration, we chose Jun porcelain, a traditional art of China, as a national gift to the leaders of various countries. It is not only one of the five famous porcelains in China Song Dynasty with a thousand years' history, but more importantly, it has rich historical culture and magnificent charm of kilning. In a sense, it expresses China's profound and simple China culture and its positive attitude of keeping pace with the times in this complex and changeable multipolar international environment. All this coincides with the message that Boao Forum for Asia wants to convey to the world. " "People can't stand in the world without soul, can't inherit for a long time without virtue, can't make exquisite porcelain without soul, and can't spread to future generations without essence. "

In the Song Dynasty, the official kilns insisted on smashing defective products and selling only high-quality products, and specially set up a "Jun Soul" pool to smash defective products, as well as a strict system of product selection and inspection.

Every treasure in the official kiln of the Song Dynasty came from that pile of fragments-after countless times of firing, selection, abandonment and crushing, the treasure will become a real treasure. At the Boao Forum for Asia in 2003, the finished product "Xiangrui Bottle" of the national gift Jun porcelain finally passed the acceptance of the expert group, and it was also appreciated by the politicians of the participating countries. But behind this, in order to ensure the quality of the "auspicious bottle", the official kiln in Song Dynasty produced a total of 33,560 blanks and 99 finished products. In 2004, the national gift "Gankun Bottle" produced a total of 26,806 blanks and 999 finished products.

At the same time, the official kilns in Song Dynasty attached great importance to the cooperation with masters for many years, constantly improved the quality and value of products, and also trained a number of their own masters of arts and crafts and ceramics. The words of Mr. Ji Xianlin, a 94-year-old master of Chinese studies and a professor of Peking University, made the imperial kilns in Song Dynasty find a future-oriented and world-oriented position: "Combine the essence of Chinese culture, folk customs, traditions and classic auspicious patterns, and combine the theme of today's development. China Jun kiln porcelain should speak to the world as the most classic cultural messenger of the Chinese nation. "

It is the pursuit and mission of China Jun Porcelain to present the traditional culture of China, which has been precipitated for 5,000 years, to the world-to govern the sage in prosperous times, to value the spontaneity of China, to take the monarch as the medium, to treat the instrument honestly, to dedicate the Millennium art classics tempered by fire to future generations, and to spread the long and profound history and culture of the Chinese nation to the whole world.

As the treasure of the town hall, the specially-made "auspicious bottle" was permanently displayed in the main venue of Boao Forum for Asia and was permanently collected in the Great Hall of the People.

In the same year, he created a "Harmony" bottle of Jun porcelain as a national gift for the "China-ASEAN Expo" and presented it to the leaders of the ten ASEAN countries.

In July, 2006, the official kiln in the Song Dynasty specially produced the "Chinese Thousand Horses Seal" as an award gift for the new wealth gold medal secretary. In July 2006, in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Long March, the Song Dynasty official kiln work Zun General was presented to the old Red Army by Chi Haotian in the Great Hall of the People.
