What are the hard disk formats?
NTFS partition format is better.
NTFS came into being with Windows NT operating system, and entered the ranks of main partition format with Windows NT4. Its advantages are excellent security and stability, and it is not easy to produce file fragments in use. NTFS partition has very strict restrictions on user permissions, and each user can only operate according to the permissions given by the system. Any attempt to exceed the authority will be banned by the system. At the same time, it also provides a fault-tolerant structure log, which can record all user operations, thus protecting the security of the system. However, the compatibility of NTFS partition format is not good, especially for the widely used Windows 98 SE/Windows ME system, it is necessary to operate NTFS partition with the help of third-party software. Windows 2000 and Windows XP provide perfect support for NTFS partition format based on NT technology.
Main functions and advantages of Ntfs:
In NTFS file system, the actual file size varies from 4GB to 64GB for different hardware configurations. Due to the high overhead of NTFS file system, the minimum partition used should be 50MB.
Compared with FAT file system, the biggest feature of NTFS file system is security, and NTFS provides the security guarantee required by servers or workstations. On NTFS partition, random access control and ownership are supported. No matter whether FAT or NTFS file system is used, permissions can be specified for * * * shared folders to avoid being affected by local access or remote access. Users can specify permissions when storing a folder or a single file on the computer, or accessing it by connecting the folder * * *, so that each user can only operate according to the permissions given by the system, which fully protects the security of the system and data. NTFS automatically records all folder and file updates by using transaction logs. When an operation fails due to system damage and power failure, the system can use the log file to redo or resume the failed operation. The main function is embodied in two aspects:
First, protect network resources through NTFS licenses.
Under WindowsNT, the local security of network resources is realized through NTFS permissions. On the partition formatted as NTFS, each file or folder can be assigned a separate license, which makes these resources have a higher security level. Users must be able to access NTFS-licensed resources whether on their own computers or through remote networks.
Second, use NTFS to compress individual files and folders.
NTFS supports the compression of a single file or directory. This kind of compression is different from the compression of drive volume in FAT structure, and its controllability and speed are much better than the disk compression of FAT.
In addition to the above two main features, NTFS file system has other advantages, such as: for hard disks above 4GB, using NTFS partition can reduce the number of disk fragments and greatly improve the utilization rate of hard disks; The file size that NTFS can support can reach 64GB, which is much larger than 4GB under FAT32. Support long file names and so on.
