Why do Chinese people fetishize Western philosophy but discriminate against indigenous philosophy?

This question needs to be answered in several ways. Personal opinion:

First, we start learning the Three Character Classic in elementary school, "Man's nature is good" and so on, and in high school we learn Marxist philosophy, and in college we learn Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching, Poetry, Analects, and so on, as well as foreign literature. It is an irresponsible statement to say that Chinese people discriminate against native philosophy. From elementary school to university, there are elements of Chinese culture in both language and politics, and those who say this are by no means insightful.

Second, today's people do not understand the broad connotation of Chinese philosophy, there is a misunderstanding. 1, looking back on Chinese history, many feudal emperors were fond of "immortality", "magic pills", and so on, in the vain hope that their own dynasty will be immortal. The idea of "immortality" originated from Taoism (which does not represent Taoist philosophy), and people hated those dimwitted emperors who were bent on seeking "immortality" and despised Taoist culture, and the innocent Taoist philosophy was implicated; 2. During the anti-feudal revolution, the feudal system revered Confucian culture, and it was the only system that respected Confucianism. During the anti-feudal revolutionary period, the feudal system revered Confucian culture and exclusively respected Confucianism. The vigorous revolution pushed Confucian culture and even Confucius himself into the limelight, and in order to emancipate the people's thinking and get rid of the fetters of feudalism, they even intentionally misinterpreted the words of the Analects of Confucius, such as "The people can be made to know by the people, but not to know by the people" and so on. Those who discriminate and do not understand Chinese philosophy are partly due to historical factors.

Third, the Opium War, the War of Eight Nations against China, and the War of Resistance against Japan brought foreign civilizations to China, and at the same time we learned about Marxist philosophy. The class headed by Chairman Mao used Marxist ideas to lead us step by step to the victory of the revolution. The people at that time naturally worshiped Western culture and philosophy. Later on, when we reformed and opened up, we also learned from the Western model of economic development and philosophy and culture. So there are some people who are superstitious about Western philosophy, and there is a deep historical objective factor.

Western and Eastern philosophies are both human civilizations, and neither can be discarded. Western philosophy emphasizes romanticism, focusing on human imagination, self-improvement, the sky is the limit, brilliant; Eastern philosophy focuses on realism, transformation of the world, the benefit of others, the depth and depth of the world, to save the world. We often say that Chinese people are realistic and pragmatic, while foreigners are romantic and dashing, which is the national character caused by different cultures.

Lastly, I would like to tell the owner that Chinese philosophy is a super sponge, always absorbing the nutrients of foreign cultures, and therefore it is long-lasting. Mao Zedong Thought and Deng Xiaoping Theory, the two major products of the Chineseization of Marxism, are good proof. When something new is born, it is always imitated first, then it is realized, then it is abandoned, and finally it is born. The great four great inventions are all created by us Chinese, which proves that this country is very extraordinary and charming!
