Briefly describe the relationship among distance education, distance teaching and distance learning.

From the concept connotation, distance education includes not only distance teaching and distance learning, but also decision-making, planning, management, logistics and so on. Therefore, distance education and distance learning constitute a part of distance education, and distance learning is the core part of distance education. From the perspective of conceptual extension, (broad sense) distance education and distance learning not only occur in (narrow sense) distance education organized by schools and other social institutions, but also can occur in economic activities, social and cultural activities, mass media communication and daily life of social families. Therefore, (narrow sense) distance teaching and distance learning in distance education organized by schools and other social institutions are only one of various (broad sense) distance teaching and distance learning, and of course it is the most important one. Furthermore, distance teaching (referring to distance teaching and learning) includes distance teaching and distance learning. Distance learning can refer to learners' learning behavior in the bilateral activities of distance teaching and learning. In this case, distance learning, that is, students' behavior, must interact with distance teaching, that is, teachers' behavior. However, distance learning can also be an open and flexible learning based on various educational technologies and learning resources, which has nothing to do with distance teaching, that is, there is no direct two-way communication and interaction between learners and teachers (designers of educational technologies and learning resources). In other words, distance learning in distance teaching (teaching and learning) is only a part of generalized distance learning. The research objects of distance education are mainly limited to school distance education (that is, distance education in a narrow sense) and distance teaching and distance learning. However, the research results of school distance education also have important theoretical significance for understanding and guiding distance education, distance teaching and generalized distance learning in various social lives.
