The "Human Education Edition Math Textbook" illustration fiasco has been on the hot seat for a while, how will the Education Ministry handle the matter?

The illustrations in the RENJIU textbook cover objectionable topics that are not suitable for Chinese children, such as little boys exposing their privacy, boys wearing the U.S. Stars and Stripes, and girls with tattoos. The students were shocked that the Hanyu Jiao textbook has been practiced in China for more than a decade. As you can imagine, this generation of children has already been y influenced by the RENGYU version of textbooks. Teaching materials, as children's wisdom enlightenment books, are related to the future of a country. The bad pattern in the teaching materials of the Renmin Ryo edition does make many people ponder whether it is a foreign culture that has invaded their own country and intentionally made reading books that poison the spirit of Chinese children.

This has also made parents in Chinese families extremely worried about whether their children will be influenced by the illustrations in the Hanyue textbooks, which will harm their children's future growth. So let's guess how this will end up. I personally speculate that it should be handled in two ways. One is to quickly launch a new version of the textbook illustrations to replace the original one. This is something that has now been finalized and will definitely be done. A comprehensive new textbook is required to be published by Sept. 1 to replace all the original problematic textbooks, but this has been derided by the general public as treating the symptoms rather than the root cause.

We solve problems because there are problems, but why don't we think about who caused them? How can we avoid similar problems in the future? The controversial illustrations of the People's Education Program (PEP) math textbook have been hotly debated. Netizens found a lot of problems with the characters in the illustrations, such as strange eyes, strange expressions, inappropriate dress elements, no aesthetic sense, and so on. Online images show that the illustrations that triggered the controversy are from the Humanist version of elementary school math textbooks, covering grades one to six, which were finalized in 2012 or 2013.

The layout and illustrations came from Beijing-based Wu Yong Design Studio. The People's Education Publishing House issued a statement saying it was concerned about online comments about the covers and illustrations of the elementary school math textbooks, and had begun redrawing the covers and some of the illustrations of the relevant volumes of the math textbooks to improve the style of the drawings and the level of art. From the design to the publication of textbooks, they are subject to strict scrutiny and expert guidance. The illustrations in the HNT version of the textbook obviously do not meet the requirements, and some of them may be used for favoritism and high profits. The Ministry of Education also attaches great importance to this matter, saying that it will thoroughly investigate those who violate the rules and discipline.
